Agata Prospects

Agata Gold and Copper-Gold Prospects

The Agata Project covers two splays of the Philippine Fault, main copper and gold mineralization driver in the Philippines, and associated arrays of cross-cutting faults which control a cluster of porphyry copper-gold prospects and overprinting gold prospects. Mineralization is manifested by abundant copper and gold showings, extensive alteration, and a six km trend of strong Induced Polarization (IP) chargeability anomalies.

Agata has a long and continuing history of small scale, artisanal gold mining -- which peaked with about 3,000 miners in the mid 1980s. Specific gold and copper-gold prospects at Agata include: American Tunnels; Assmicor Prospect; Limestone Prospect; Assmicor Porphyry Copper-Gold Prospect; North Porphyry Target; and South Porphyry Target. American Tunnels

American Tunnels is a small (about 200 m by 200 m) erosional window through ultramafic cap rocks within the six km trend gold and copper-gold trend at Agata. There are over 100 shallow artisanal mines and workings within the trend, but mineralization is mostly obscured by ultramafic cap rock of variable thickness. American Tunnels provides a unique window through this cap rock. During 2007 and most of 2008, artisanal miners were also actively mining high-grade copper from shallow workings over an area of about 50 m by 50 m. Both gold and porphyry copper-gold targets are recognized at American Tunnels.

The copper ore was mined by manual methods and ore grading 5 to 15 percent copper sold to local buyers to be sent to China for processing. Eight underground workings have been mined for copper and about 22 for gold. Copper mining is intermittent depending on copper price. Artisanal gold mining activity has accelerated in recent years. Mining is down to shallow depths of 5 to 20 meters, water inflows or hard ground below that generally terminates mining.

Mindoro allows local miners to profit from legitimate small-scale mining of shallow ores, providing that this is done in an environmentally and socially acceptable manner. The small-scale mining does not impact on Mindoro's plans to evaluate and advance the porphyry copper-gold potential of the prospective trend and the local miners will likely be integrated into the company's future programs.

Both gold and porphyry copper-gold targets are recognized at American Tunnels.

Nickle Laterite Projects

The Surigao region is a major nickel producing district, and there are at least ten direct shipping ore (DSO) nickel laterite mines either in production or being developed. There are two main nickel laterite belts in the Surigao District- an eastern coastal belt that is held by a variety of companies and a western coastal belt, which is a region largely controlled by Mindoro.

Much of the Surigao District nickel laterite provides DSO to processing plants in Japan, Australia and China. However, an improved generation of HPAL plants, currently being used with great success by Sumitomo and partner Nickel Asia on their Philippine Coral Bay operation, shows considerable promise for the local processing of Surigao ores. Of major significance is the recent commencement of construction by Sumitomo / Nickel Asia of a HPAL processing operation at Taganito in the eastern Surigao District, which will produce 30,000 tonnes of nickel product per annum. This will launch the Surigao District into the ranks of globally important nickel processing camps.

Mindoro's nickel laterite projects/prospects include the Agata Nickel Laterite resource and a number of nickel laterite prospects on its northern Surigao Projects, including the Bolobolo, Karihatag, San Jose, Tapian, Can-aga, Villariza, and Mat-I nickel laterite prospects.
