American Tunnels Porphyry Copper-Gold Targets
American Tunnels Porphyry Copper-Gold Targets
American Tunnels is characterized by an IP chargeability anomaly extending over 800 m by 300 m, with associated resistivity and magnetic anomalies. The chargeability anomaly here is relatively shallow-sourced compared to the remainder of the six kilometer anomaly trend at Agata. Underground sampling of local small-scale miners' copper workings gave high copper values, associated in places with high gold and molybdenum values. Mineralization is at the top of multi-phase intrusives, on the cusp of a shallow IP chargeability anomaly that "daylights".
The copper mineralization is interpreted as a high-grade, late-stage concentration at the upper contact of the intrusive stocks and dikes, and derived from porphyry copper-gold mineralization below. Extensive copper, gold and zinc soil anomalies are associated.
Detailed underground sampling and mapping of the copper workings were carried out. Sampling was restricted to wall rock in mined-out areas of the copper workings. It has not been possible to sample working faces due to their inaccessibility and dangerous conditions. The more significant continuous rock chip results are as follows:
| Length (m) | Copper % | Gold g/t | Location |
| 21.5 | 1.17 | 1.02 | Victor workings |
| 17.5 | 2.01 | Loloy workings |
|
| 6.0 | 3.67 | Pabling workings |
