| Mindoro nickel project will go through a definitive feasibility study (DFS) after Intex Resources ASA has appointed a contractor to design a processing plant for the mine that will initially produce 40,000 metric tons (MT) of nickel. Intex of Norway has appointed Aker Solutions Australia which will also conduct a study for the potential expansion of the nickel deposit while the study on the processing plant should involve considerations on safety and minimization of impact on the environment. "Aker Solutions will act as project manager of the study. It will coordinate third party contractors and consultants to ensure all contributions are conducted to the necessary quality and submitted to meet the agreed schedule regarding the study of the planned processing facility for stage-1 of Mindoro," said Intex in a statement. The DFS will likewise develop plans on capital and operating cost estimates of the project. This will be based on assumptions and results of metallurgical test work. Stage 1 of Mindoro nickel will produce 40,000 MT of nickel and 3,000 MT of cobal yearly through high pressure acid leach processing of limonite ore. http://www.mb.com.ph/archive_pages.php?url=http://www.mb.com.ph/issues/2008/06/28/BSNS20080628128418.html | |
